For as long as I can remember - I have always created frames with prints or vintage fabrics inside, usually from up-cycled frames I’ve painted or embellished.
This striking shoal of sardines in varying colours are hand printed onto grey linen fabric from my own lino cut and set into a muted green/grey frame, one that I have made look aged and really stylized for a vintage look and feel.
The back is finished with brown Kraft paper, stamped with the Seashells and Lavender brand and a hook added - should you wish to wall hang, but can also be placed on a shelf with other artefacts and pieces married together.
Sardine and pilchard are common names for various species of small, oily forage fish in the herring suborder Clupeoidei. Within the Atlantic, they are known to frequent the waters around the English Channel and the coasts of Europe. They swim in midwater and are especially common off the south coast of Cornwall.
